Green People and Plants
Green figures are are part of cultures throughout the world. From medieval times in Europe and the British Isles they were carved into buildings such as cathedrals. On traditional holidays in many cultures people bring them to life with dancing and ceremonies. They relate to images of the Earth as Mother, and show nature as a spiritual force.
Today these symbolic personas have meaning for us, speaking of the need for respect for nature. Some say they are representative of the ecology movement.
These “Earth Mothers” appeared in my own garden….. they follow the seasons of a life…
