I have always loved the paintings of the Renaissance, and studied the techniques. Once while looking at a painting of the Madonna by Pierre Mignard “the Virgin of the Grapes 1630”, a thought ran through my mind— what if instead of being set in a mythical land the Virgin was seen in the wild forests and waters of the Northern Pacific coast. That was the beginning of this small series. The baby Jesus has elements of all the children of the world in his colouring.
